Hospitality & tourism are two of the most important sectors of the Eastern Shore economy, accounting for over $230 million in annual spending and more than 1,700 jobs.  This FastForward class will provide workers in the food service sector to gain the workforce education necessary to prepare them for the AHLEI Certified Hospitality Manager (CHM) credential through a series of stackable industry-recognized credentials:
     Guest Service Gold/Certified Guest Service Professional credential
     ServSafe Food Manager credential
     Certified Kitchen Cook credential
     Certified Restaurant Server credential
     Certified Hospitality Manager credential
 
Students will earn credentials in key front-line positions before beginning the CHM credential component, which consists of five modules covering Operations, Financial Management, Leadership, Recruiting & Hiring, and Revenue Management.
 
As a FastForward class, 2/3 of the cost is automatically paid for by the Commonwealth of Virginia for students domiciled in the State.  Additional financial aid may also be available to cover the balance.
 
AHLEI is a global leader in hospitality education, training and certification, providing a wide range of resources to industry, employees and educators. Recognized credentials are available at all levels of employment, from entry-level to executive.
