The Certified Information Systems Security Professional designation (CISSP) recognizes those cybersecurity professionals with the knowledge, skills and abilities to lead an organization’s information security program. It is ideal for experienced security practitioners, managers and executives interested in proving their knowledge across a wide array of security practices and principles and covers eight primary domains: Security & Risk Management; Asset Security; Security Architecture & Engineering; Communication & Network Security; Identity & Access Management; Security Assessment & Testing; Security Operations; and Software Development Security.
The class is offered 100% online by experienced cyber professionals through Virginia’s FastForward program, which covers 2/3 of the class cost for Virginia residents who have been domiciled in the Commonwealth for at least 12 months. A variety of financial aid options are available to assist students with the remaining 1/3 cost. A student’s financial aid eligibility will be determined by ESCC staff once application is made. Class cost includes digital book and cost of taking the credentialing exam one time.
Students should have at least 5 years of relevant, cumulative full-time work experience in two or more of the eight domains listed above; one year of required experience may be fulfilled through holding one of the following below (you will then need four years of relevant work experience): Four-Year College Degree or Regional Equivalent; or holding one of several credentials on ISC2’s approved credentials list; contact ESCC Workforce Development for more information. For cyber professionals with the ability to pass the ISC2 exam but lacking required work experience, the Associate of ISC2 Badge may be available.
