NCCER Welding Level 1 - With Core (WCG)

The NCCER Welding Level 1 program introduces students to essential knowledge and skills for a career in welding. Key topics covered include:
  • Welding Safety: Understanding general safety practices and common hazards.
  • Welding Techniques: Training in oxyfuel cutting, plasma arc cutting, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
  • Materials and Preparation: Learning about base metals, joint design, and quality workmanship.
  • Weld Quality: Emphasis on producing quality welds and understanding codes related to welding.

This foundational course prepares students for further advancement in the welding field.

The course is offered as part of Virginia's FastForward program, which provides 2/3 funding for students domiciled in Virginia.  Students may also be eligible for G3/FANTIC/WIOA funding to help with the remaining 1/3 cost.

NCCER Core Fundamentals is also taught as part of this class.

This class serves as the academic equivalent as IND 103 and WEL 123.
